UNSUNG HEROES THE FINALISTS MAKING SCOTLAND GREATER.

LIAM BOYLE, 11, KINGS PARK, GLASGOW; IAIN HOLMS, 45, CUMBERNAULD; AND ROBERT MCCUTCHEON, 31, GLASGOW Liam's right hand was almost severed in the rollercoaster crash at M&D's theme park in Motherwell. Praised for his bravery after the accident in June, his family say his courage is matched by Iain and Robert, who helped him.

GARY, 33, AND LIBBY SEATH, 59, COWDENBEATH, FIFE After Captain David Seath died running the London Marathon last year, his family didn't want his death to be in vain. His brother Gary and mum Libby set up a fund in his name to raise money for Help for Heroes. The Captain David Seath Memorial Fund has raised more than PS250,000.

DES, 46, & CAROLYN MCKEOWN, 51, CUMBERNAULD The husband and wife have raised PS700,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support since forming Team McKeown 12 years ago. Ex-Airdrie star Des has run 21 marathons, his wife Carolyn eight and the pair now have a 105-strong team of family and friends who raise money for charity.

SERGEANT BRIAN TAYLOR AND SOLDIERS IAIN MCSHANE, KEVIN FLOYD AND GARY BROWN These soldiers helped to foil a bank robbery. The Army recruitment team were in Inverness when a man ran out of an RBS with a large bag and a purse. Onlookers said he'd robbed the bank. The squaddies gave chase and helped guards apprehend him.

THE KENNEDY CUPCAKES DANCE TROUPE The glam dance troupe's 1940s style has made them poster girls for the armed forces. And The Kennedy Cupcakes have sealed that relationship by unveiling a series of charity retro postcards to raise funds for veterans' charity Erskine in Bishopton.
