UNSUNG HEROES ARE HONOURED; Joy for hardworking men and women of South Wales.
THE UNSUNG heroes of South Wales are celebrating today after being awarded gongs in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
As well as the star names of stage and screen, people whose work often stays out of the limelight - from teachers to charity workers to home carers - have received Royal recognition.
Among those left surprised but delighted by the news of their honour is pensioner Irene Moore - whose tireless charity work for the hospital which cared for her daughter before her death has earned her an MBE.
Today the Echo pays tribute to Irene and her fellow modest heroes.
