UNLUCKY FOR SAINTS 13; SOCCER EXTRA..

SHAMROCK Rovers boss Pat Scully yesterday wielded the axe and released 13 players from his squad.

Scully's plan is to rob Peter to pay Paul and by releasing so many fringe players is hoping to bring in six new faces for next season.

Those chopped off the payroll include Andy Myler, Robbie Clarke, Alan Reynolds, David Cassidy and Dave McGill.

Scully said: "It wasn't nice to do but we have to build for next year and this is part of the job."
