 UNIX SYSTEMS LABORATORIES NAMES FORMER DEC UNIX
 EXECUTIVE AS VP OF MARKETING
 SUMMIT, N.J., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- In support of its commitment to promoting worldwide use of open systems technology and providing high-quality UNIX(R) software, UNIX System Laboratories, Inc. (USL) has appointed Joe Menard vice president of marketing. Menard joins USL from Digital Equipment Corporation, where he was director of product marketing for Digital's UNIX system derivative hardware and software product lines. He reports to Roel Pieper, president and chief executive officer of USL.
 Pieper commented, "Joe has tremendous expertise in open systems. His success in UNIX technology and marketing, combined with his broad computer industry knowledge and marketing skills, make Joe a powerful addition to USL's management team."
 Menard was with Digital for 10 years where he also held program and product management and business planning positions. Prior to joining Digital he was a design engineer at the Raytheon Corporation. Menard holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass., and a master's degree in business administration from Babson College in Wellesley, Mass.

 UNIX System Laboratories, Inc., headquartered in Summit, N.J., develops and markets the UNIX System V operating system, the TUXEDO(R) Transaction Processing System, the Open Networking Platform, the C- Plus-Plus Language system and other standards-based system software products to open systems computer vendors worldwide. USL has a joint venture with Novell Inc., UNIVEL, which was formed to accelerate the implementation of easy-to-use UNIX systems in the low-end network computing marketplace.
