UNIVISION PROVIDES LIVE COVERAGE OF WORLD CUP QUALIFYING MATCHES
MIAMI, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Univision, the nation's leading Spanish-language television network, has signed an agreement with Worldwide Business Associates (WBA) for the exclusive rights to carry live Spanish-language broadcasts of selected World Cup qualifying matches. The schedule acquired by Univision allows the network to televise five matches played among the Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Soccer Federations (CONCACAF) in 1992.
The qualifying matches will air on Univision's "Domingo Deportivo Budweiser" (Budweiser Sports Sunday) at 1 p.m. EST. On Nov. 15, St. Vincent will play Costa Rica; St. Vincent will then play Mexico on Dec. 6 and Costa Rica again on Dec. 13. The matches held on Nov. 1 (El Salvador vs. Bermuda) and Nov. 8 (St. Vincent vs. Mexico) were also broadcast live on the network.
Veteran sportscasters Norberto Longo and Andres Cantor will provide insightful analysis and commentary throughout the matches.
In addition to live coverage of World Cup qualifying matches, Univision also has rights to air ten games from the final round to be played in 1993; the winner of that round will qualify for World Cup '94 USA. The network's coverage of the World Cup dates back to 1970.
Univision, the nation's leading Spanish-language television network, reaches 90 percent of U.S. Hispanic households through satellite- interconnected broadcast and cable affiliates nationwide.
