UNIVISION ANNOUNCES NEW PROGRAMMING;NEW LINE-UP BUILDS ON RECENT SUCCESSFUL STRATEGY

Nielsen Ratings Put Univision on Top
with 16 of the Top 20 Shows on Spanish TV
MIAMI, Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Univision's long-standing dominance in Hispanic audience performance, well established by SRC and Arbitron ratings, was further confirmed by the first official Nielsen Hispanic Television Index (NHTI) report published on Dec. 22. The changes in its network programming line-up that Univision is announcing today further support and expand the strategy that has resulted in complete Nielsen ratings dominance for Univision.
Univision's new line-up has one objective: to give its viewers and advertisers the very best programs available anywhere in the world today. Just as viewers overwhelmingly prefer Univision, advertisers know that no one matches Univision's ability to reach the burgeoning U.S. Hispanic population.
Completely redesigned to showcase his inimitable humor and to bring out the best in his celebrity guests, El Nuevo Show de Paul Rodriguez (The New Paul Rodriguez Show), answers our audience's demand for entertainment with a comic flair. Paul will leave the Univision audience laughing on Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. ET (check local listings) starting Feb. 3.
Joining Paul in Univision's prime time line-up is the king of Latin humorists. Chespirito, a proven winner, comes to prime time Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET (check local listings) starting Feb. 2.
Chespirito, with his zany antics, unforgettable characters and singular sense of humor, has delighted Hispanic audiences worldwide for over 20 years.
The NHTI report confirms that the popularity of novelas is stronger than ever. Univision will give its viewers a new time to watch these proven favorites. Starting Feb. 1, the best novelas of all time will be seen on Univision weekdays from 11 a.m.-noon ET (check local listings), beginning with "Vida Robada."
NHTI reaffirms the Latino love affair with film. Movies move our audience. To give them more of what they're asking for, Grandes Exitos, Univision's late night movie now seen on Friday nights 11:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m. will expand to three nights a week and also add a Sunday morning edition. Beginning Feb. 1, Grandes Exitos will captivate viewers with action, romance and adventure every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at midnight and on Sunday mornings at 11 a.m.
Sunday's "Grandes Exitos" movie will follow Univision's new kids hit, "T.V. O" which delights children of all ages every Saturday and Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
With these changes, three Univision programs, Al Mediodia, Portada, and Charytin International will be canceled. Elements of Portada, a news magazine, will now be featured in "Noticiero Univision," with quality and in-depth pieces on issues facing Hispanics in the U.S. and Latin America everyday.
"The changes we're announcing today are designed to strengthen Univision's ability to give our viewers the best Spanish-language television in the world and to ensure the success of our clients' Hispanic marketing plans. NHTI convincingly demonstrates the dominating success of our recent programming and marketing strategy," said Ray Rodriguez, president and chief operating officer of the Univision Network.
Univision, the nation's leading Spanish-language television network, reaches 91 percent of U.S. Hispanic households through satellite interconnected broadcast and cable affiliates nationwide.
