UNIVERSAL VOLTRONICS ANNOUNCES FIRST QUARTER RESULTS
MT. KISCO, N.Y., May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Voltronics Corp. (AMEX: UVL) today reported revenues of $1,772,000 for the quarter ended March 28, 1992, compared with $1,694,000 for the quarter ended March 30, 1991. Net income was $64,000 for the current quarter, compared with net income of $30,000 for the same quarter last year.
"Revenues rose slightly in the first quarter due to the two federally-funded contracts we received at the end of last year," said Barry Ressler, president and chief executive officer of Universal Voltronics. "Net income more than doubled from the first quarter last year due, in part, to successful efforts to reduce operating costs."
Universal Voltronics designs and manufactures high-voltage power conversion systems for scientific and energy research and industrial, medical, and defense applications. Universal Voltronics is a subsidiary of Thermedics Inc. (AMEX: TMD) and Thermo Electron Corporation (NYSE: TMO).
