UNIVERSAL PICTURES APPOINTS DIANE CAIRNS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, PRODUCTION

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Pictures today announced the appointment of Diane Cairns as Senior Vice President, Production.

In making the announcement, Hal Lieberman, President, Production, Universal Pictures, said, "I'm delighted that Diane is joining the Universal production team. Her reputation within the creative community and broad-based experience are a tremendous asset for us, and I'm confident that she will spearhead the kind of quality motion pictures which will extend Universal's position as a major force in the industry."

Ms. Cairns joins Universal from International Creative Management (ICM), where she served as Senior Vice President of the motion picture literary department. During her ten-year career at ICM she was a driving force behind such films as "Fatal Attraction", "Dangerous Liaisons", "Thelma and Louise" and "Something to Talk About."

Prior to joining ICM, Ms. Cairns was a literary agent with the Sy Fischer Company.

Ms. Cairns is a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, Women in Film, the National Organization of Women and Amnesty International.
