UNITED WATER RESOURCES AND HACKENSACK WATER COMPANY EXPAND COMMUNICATIONS
 ACTIVITIES; GREEN ADVANCES, SIMUNOVICH JOINS
 HARRINGTON PARK, N.J., June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- United Water Resources (NYSE: UWR) today announced it has expanded the responsibilities of one executive and added another executive to its utility ranks as it continues to fine-tune its organization structure in an ongoing management succession plan.
 Martha C. Green, 42, has been elected vice president-corporate communications for United Water Resources and serves in a similar capacity for Hackensack Water Company. Joseph Simunovich, 53, has been elected vice president-external affairs for Hackensack Water Company and will leave his current post as director of sales at New Jersey Bell Telephone to join the company on Aug. 1, 1992.
 "These organization changes allow us to place increasing emphasis and focus on the important and expanding functions of internal and external communications and government relations," said Donald L. Correll, president.
 "For the past 17 years Martha Green has played a vital role in guiding corporate communications to our customers, shareholders, employees, and other key constituencies. The new corporate alignment enables us to enhance the coordination of company-wide communications and to acknowledge the many contributions of a talented and dedicated executive. We believe these moves will ensure our corporate tradition of open, consistent and timely communications."
 Correll stated that Simunovich would provide strategic direction and oversight for Hackensack Water's regulatory, legislative and government relations. "Joe has an extensive reputation as a seasoned communications executive and we are pleased to welcome him to our management team. We believe Joe's background uniquely qualifies him to head up our external affairs activities as well as to play an active role in our marketing efforts to expand our utility business," Correll said.
 Green continues to oversee the corporate communications activities of United Water and its subsidiaries which include investor, shareholder, customer and employee communications as well as media relations. She joined Hackensack Water Company in 1975 as public information coordinator, and was promoted to director, public affairs in 1980. Since 1988 as vice president-public affairs for Hackensack Water, she has directed the corporate communications and government affairs activities of the utility, as well as those of United Water and its other subsidiaries.
 She is a graduate of the College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio, with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts.
 Recently elected a director of the New Jersey chapter of the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC), from 1988-1991 Green served as a member of the NAWC's national board of directors. She serves on NAWC's public information committee and recently completed a two-year term as its chairman. She is a member of the American Water Works Association and the Public Relations Society of America, the International Association of Business Communicators and the National Investor Relations Institute. Green is active in several community organizations, and serves as communications chairman for the United Way of Bergen County.
 She and her husband, James Tellefsen, live in Hillsdale, N.J.
 A 30-year communications and public relations veteran, Simunovich began his career at New York Telephone in 1962. He advanced to positions of increasing responsibility and was named district manager in 1970. In 1978 he joined New Jersey Bell Telephone as marketing manager-major accounts, providing business services to the company's large retail, wholesale and utility customers. He was named regional staff manager-planning and controls in 1983 and director of sales-large business market in 1985. In this capacity, specializing in government and education clients, he has directed and implemented a corporate sales strategy earning Gold Club recognition, Bell Atlantic's highest sales award, for the past seven years.
 Active in governmental and civic activities, Simunovich has served since 1987 as vice chairman of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. Currently a trustee for both Jersey City State College and Palisades General Hospital Foundation, he also serves on the board of governors at Hackensack Medical Center. For the past eight years he has served as an executive committee member for the New Jersey Sports Authority's Kickoff classic. He recently completed a one-year assignment as a loaned executive to the Governor's Management Review Commission.
 Simunovich was a Hudson County Freeholder for 12 years, three of which were served as director/chairman of the freeholder board.
 Simunovich received his bachelor's degree from Colgate University and attended the graduate school of Fairleigh Dickinson University for a master's degree in business administration. He has completed post- graduate courses at Carnegie Institute and Rutgers Graduate School.
 He and his wife, Pam, live in Hackensack, N.J. The couple have two children.
