 KANSAS CITY, Mo., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- United


Telecommunications, Inc. (NYSE: UT) will sell and market PictureTel Corporation's videoconferencing products through its seven local operating companies in its Local Telecommunications Division and also support North Supply in establishing a national distribution network.
 PictureTel's System 4000(tm) products include a family of dial-up videoconferencing systems that are compact, modular and designed for medium- and small-sized companies and businesses. Its dealers will primarily focus on companies outside the Fortune 500.
 "Videoconferencing is becoming an increasingly integral part of business communications for large and small businesses," said Tom Farmer, vice president of marketing at United Telecom. "The PictureTel products are synergistic with our high-speed digital services and will provide a superior combination for all our customers."
 PictureTel's newly established nationwide dealer network is being managed exclusively by North Supply, also a United Telecom company, which will provide product inventory, dealer financing programs, sales and technical support for United Telecom companies as well as other authorized PictureTel dealers. Target markets will also include state and local government and educational facilities within specific geographical areas.
 PictureTel Corporation, headquartered in Peabody, Mass., develops, manufactures and markets software-upgradeable visual communications products for worldwide use with public and private digital networks. PictureTel videoconferencing systems enable dial- up, full-motion video calls with convenience and economy of normal phone service.
 United Telecom Local Telecommunications Division provides service for more than four million access lines. Headquarter locations are in Altamonte Springs, Fla.; Tarboro, N.C.; Overland Park, Kan.; Mansfield, Ohio; Carlisle, Pa.; Bristol, Tenn.; and Hood River, Ore.
