UNITED PILOTS WARN AGAINST NON-UNION SPIN-OFF

CHICAGO, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statement was issued today by Capt. Roger Hall, chairman of the United Airlines pilots' Master Executive Council, a unit of the Air Line Pilots Association:
According to recent reports, United Airlines has confirmed that it is considering the creation of a separate, non-union airline. Such an operation would violate the pilots' contract with United and would destroy the fundamental compact between the company and its employees. It was just such a breach of faith that led to the pilots' 29-day strike against United in 1985 and to years of subsequent turmoil. If this latest threat to our company and our profession is pursued, we will again respond with every legal means at our disposal.
