UNITED HEALTHCARE CORPORATION REPORTS HEALTH PLAN, SPECIALTY ENROLLMENT GAINS

 MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- United HealthCare Corporation (NYSE: UNH) said membership in its owned health plans increased 17.3 percent in the 12 months ended Jan. 31, to 853,600, with a 4.7 percent increase in January 1993. The January 1993 figure does not include the company's recently completed acquisition of Western Ohio Health Care, a 185,000-member plan based in Dayton, Ohio.
 Total enrollment in UHC's 9 owned and 10 managed health plans, excluding the Dayton plan, stood at 1,767,400 on Jan. 31, 1993, a 10.3 percent increase over Jan. 31, 1992.
 Specialty Lives Served Top 23 Million
 Lives served by United HealthCare's specialty companies grew 51.9 percent to 23,646,000 during the 12-month period ended Jan. 31, 1993, with a 13.8 percent increase in January 1993.
 Highlights of individual specialty area growth include the following:
 Diversified Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. -- 85.2 percent growth to 9,242,000 lives served; United Behavioral Systems, Inc. (UBS) -- 48.1 percent growth to 1,996,000; Healthmarc -- 60.1 percent growth to 1,796,000; Institute for Human Resources -- 72.5 percent growth to 1,730,000; and United Resource Networks -- 25.0 percent growth to 8,882,000.
