UNITED HEALTHCARE COMPLETES PURCHASE OF WESTERN OHIO HEALTH CARE

 MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- United HealthCare Corporation (NYSE: UNH) said it has completed its purchase of Western Ohio Health Care Corporation, a 185,000-member health plan based in Dayton, Ohio.
 UHC's total purchase price for Western Ohio was $100,130,000 cash. "We feel this was a very fair purchase price for an excellent addition to our company's national network of health plans," said United HealthCare Chairman and Chief Executive Officer William W. McGuire. "Western Ohio is a leader in its market. It has an excellent provider network and relationships, and we're dedicated to building on these. And we know that United HealthCare's extensive range of specialized cost and quality management capabilities and information systems will bring important added value to the community Western Ohio serves. We welcome Western Ohio Health Care into our company."
 United HealthCare Corporation is a national leader in health care management, serving purchasers, users, managers and providers of health care since 1974. The company offers a broad range of products through 20 locally based health plans and nine non-geographically bounded specialty care management companies.
