WALTHAM, Mass., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen Inc. (AMEX: TGN) and United Environmental, Inc., a subsidiary of United Engines, Inc., have signed a three-year agreement providing for the distribution by United Environmental of Tecogen's family of TecoDrive natural gas engines. The engines will be used primarily in low-emission vehicles as well as various stationary industrial applications.
Under this arrangement, United Environmental will assemble and oversee a distributor and dealer network for TecoDrive products comprised of distributors for Detroit Diesel Corporation and other engine manufacturers. The distribution network will market, sell, and service the TecoDrive engines in the United States and Canada.
United Environmental's parent, United Engines, founded in 1939 and now based in Oklahoma City, Okla., is a major distributor of engines and other systems for trucks and off- road vehicles, as well as petroleum-and agriculture-industry equipment, for Detroit Diesel and the Allison Division of General Motors Corporation. United Environmental was founded in 1992 to assist United Engine customers in dealing with all facets of the alternative-fuels industry.
Marshall J. Armstrong, chairman and chief executive officer of Tecogen, said, "By working through a distributor with an established sales network as well as comprehensive engine overhaul, repair, spare parts, field service, and training capabilities, we plan to facilitate the marketing of our natural gas-engine products and bring to our customers an unprecedented level of product quality and aftermarket support."
