UNITED CITIES FILES FOR KANSAS RATE INCREASE
UNITED CITIES FILES FOR KANSAS RATE INCREASE BRENTWOOD, Tenn., May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- United Cities Gas Co.
(NASDAQ-NMS: UCIT), the Nashville area-based natural and propane gas distributor, announced today it has filed with the Kansas Corporation Commission requesting a general rate increase totaling $6.3 million annually in revenues.
The application filed represents an overall rate increase of 13 percent for approximately 69,000 customers in southeastern and northeastern Kansas. Once approved by the Commission, new rates would be in effect by mid-January of 1993. Gene C. Koonce, United Cities' president and chief executive officer, said the proposed rate increase would give the company an opportunity to earn a return on the substantial investment United Cities continues to make throughout its Kansas service territory. During 1991, United Cities invested approximately $10 million to make safety-related improvements, as well as plant and facility additions that enhanced the level of service for both new and existing customers. United Cities Gas Company distributes natural and propane gas to approximately 295,000 customers in nine states. The company is also engaged in other energy-related businesses. -0- 5/15/92 /CONTACT: Linda Kelley, United Cities Gas Co., 615-373-0104/ (UCIT) CO: United Cities Gas Co.
