 UNITED AMERICAN HEALTHCARE CORPORATION
WINS FIRST THIRD PARTY ADMINISTRATOR CONTRACTS
DETROIT, March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- United American Healthcare Corporation (NASDAQ: UAHC) today announced it has signed agreements to administer a self-funded employer health plan with approximately 500 individuals. The Third Party Administrator (TPA) contracts are with the Bing Group, a Detroit-based, diversified supplier to the auto industry.
The agreements call for UAHC to provide services including claims payment, medical review, provider network services and participant support in exchange for a fee based on the number of individuals.
"This is a significant development in our plan to grow through using our healthcare management expertise in a number of different markets," said Julius V. Combs, M.D., chairman and chief executive officer. "TPA business is one we've targeted to demonstrate our capabilities.
"Actually, the internal processes involved in these contracts are already in place since UAHC management of the HMOs and CountyCare require similar systems," Dr. Combs said. "We have talked with the Bing Group for about two years as we developed the relationship and were entering a new part of the health care management market. It will provide a boost as we actively market for additional TPA business."
The Bing Group was founded by former Detroit Piston star Dave Bing and consists of Bing Steel, Superb Manufacturing and Heritage 21.
United American Healthcare Corp. is a health care management company. UAHC provides a full range of services to two health maintenance organizations -- OmniCare Health Plan in southeast Michigan and Personal Physician Care of Ohio, based in Cleveland. Through CountyCare, a program of Wayne County, Michigan, the company provides comprehensive health care services to approximately 11,000 general assistance recipients.
