 UNITED AIRLINES TRAFFIC INCREASES 9.1 PERCENT
 CHICAGO, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines today reported that


its total scheduled revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 9.1 percent in October compared with the same month of 1990.
 The airline's total scheduled RPMs were 7,095,160,000 compared with 6,505,332,000 in October 1990.
 In commenting on the month, Vice Chairman John C. Pope said, "We are very pleased with our international performance. Load factors were in excess of 72 percent for both the Atlantic and the Pacific, more than 3 points above a year ago. Cargo was also quite strong, up more than 10 percent from 1990. The domestic marketplace, however, is still in need of significant improvement."
 For October, domestic revenue passenger miles totaled 4,711,294,000, an increase of 0.1 percent from 4,708,340,000 accumulated in October a year ago. Pacific revenue passenger miles totaled 1,783,210,000, an increase of 4.4 percent from 1,707,346,000 a year ago. Atlantic revenue passenger miles totaled 600,656,000.
 Total scheduled available seat miles (ASMs) were 10,719,503,000, up 5.6 percent from 10,147,287,000 a year ago. Domestic ASMs were 7,421,603,000, a decrease of 1.5 percent from 7,531,571,000 a year ago. Pacific ASMs totaled 2,469,667,000, down 0.7 percent from 2,486,175,000 a year ago. Atlantic ASMs totaled 828,233,000, up 539.4 percent from 129,541,000.
 The airline flew 5,236,000 passengers in scheduled service in October, an increase of 5.2 percent from 4,978,000 flown a year earlier.
 Total cargo ton miles for October were 149,400,000, up 10.3 percent from 135,415,000 a year ago. Total RPMs including charter flights for October were 7,107,581,000, up 8.8 percent from 6,534,299,000 a year ago.
 JANUARY THROUGH OCTOBER TRAFFIC
 For the full year, total scheduled RPMs increased 7.6 percent to 68,724,985,000 from 63,898,691,000 in 1990. Total scheduled ASMs increased 7.8 percent to 102,667,037,000 from 95,272,709,000 last year.
 Passenger load factor during the year was 66.9 percent, down 0.2 points from 67.1 percent in 1990. Total cargo ton miles were 1,286,563,000, an increase of 11.3 percent from 1,155,602,000 last year. Total RPMs including charter for the year were 69,129,193,000, an increase of 8.0 percent from 64,019,013,000 in 1990.
