UNITED AIRLINES TRAFFIC INCREASES 11.6 PERCENT
CHICAGO, July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines today reported that

its total scheduled revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 11.6 percent in June compared with the same month of 1991.
The airline's total scheduled RPMs were 8,631,286,000 compared with 7,735,652,000 in June of 1991.
In commenting on the month of June, J.C. Pope, president and chief operating officer, said, "We are particularly pleased with our strong domestic traffic. However, much of this business is at lower yields as many of our passengers were able to take advantage of the 50 percent off sale on excursion fares. Pacific passenger traffic, on the other hand, remains relatively lackluster as we continue to see softness in the Japanese economy. On the cargo side of the business, we continue to experience strong demand, with cargo ton miles growing by 12.7 percent year over year."
For June, domestic revenue passenger miles totaled 5,612,178,000, a increase of 6.1 percent from 5,287,699,000 accumulated in June a year ago.
