 UNITED AIRLINES OCTOBER TRAFFIC INCREASES 12.5 PERCENT
 CHICAGO, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines (NYSE: UAL) today reported that its total scheduled revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 12.5 percent while available seat miles (ASMs) grew by 11.5 percent in October compared with the same month of 1991. The scheduled passenger load factor was 66.8 percent compared with 66.2 percent a year ago.
 "While we saw a slight improvement in system load factor in October, and particularly strong Atlantic traffic, the weakness in our Pacific Division was disappointing," said J.C. Pope, president and chief operating officer. "Looking forward, we expect to see a firming of domestic yields as we move through the quarter."
 The airline's total scheduled RPMs were 7,984,034,000 compared with 7,095,166,000 in October of 1991.
 For October, domestic revenue passenger miles totaled 5,098,489,000, an increase of 8.8 percent from 4,685,195,000 accumulated in October a year ago. Pacific revenue passenger miles totaled 1,735,179,000, a decrease of 2.7 percent from 1,783,194,000 a year ago. Atlantic revenue passenger miles totaled 829,096,000, an increase of 38.0 percent from 600,651,000 a year ago. Latin American revenue passenger miles totaled 321,270,000, an increase of 1129.7 percent from 26,126,000.
 Total scheduled available seat miles (ASMs) were 11,955,373,000, up 11.5 percent from 10,718,560,000 a year ago.
 Domestic ASMs were 7,754,363,000, an increase of 5.1 percent from 7,376,076,000 a year ago. Pacific ASMs totaled 2,561,859,000, up 3.7 percent from 2,469,667,000 a year ago. Atlantic ASMs totaled 1,025,274,000, up 23.8 percent from 828,240,000. Latin ASMs totaled 613,877,000, an increase of 1277.1 percent from 44,577,000 a year ago.
 The airline flew 5,731,000 passengers in scheduled service in October, an increase of 9.5 percent from 5,236,000 flown a year earlier.
 Total cargo ton miles for October were 162,167,000, up 8.5 percent from 149,400,000 a year ago.
 Total RPMs including charter flights for October were 8,007,079,000, up 12.7 percent from 7,107,591,000 a year ago.
 January Through October Traffic
 For the first nine months, total scheduled RPMs increased 13.1 percent to 77,758,394,000 from 68,724,991,000 in 1991.
 Total scheduled ASMs increased 10.8 percent to 113,752,305,000 from 102,667,094,000 for the same period last year.
 Passenger load factor year to date was 68.4 percent, up 1.5 points from 66.9 percent in 1991.
 Total cargo ton miles were 1,415,518,000 year to date, an increase of 10.0 percent from 1,286,563,000 last year.
 Total RPMs including charter for the year were 77,928,133,000, an increase of 12.7 percent from 69,129,203,000 in 1991.
