UNITED AIRLINES NAMES R. TERRENCE RENDLEMAN SENIOR VP - MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS; RONO DUTTA APPOINTED VP OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS

 CHICAGO, June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines announced two key management appointments today in its operations and finance divisions.
 R. Terrence Rendleman has been named senior vice president- maintenance operations. Based in San Francisco, Rendleman will be responsible for United's Maintenance Operations Center adjacent to San Francisco International Airport and the airline's 63 line maintenance stations worldwide.
 Rendleman is a 14-year veteran in the airline industry and most recently served as senior vice president-technical operations for Northwest Airlines. Prior to joining Northwest in 1989, he held similar posts with Republic and Braniff. He joined Braniff as a pilot in 1979, after an 11-year tour of duty in the U.S. Air Force.
 He received his bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from Auburn University and has completed graduate courses in management at the University of Southern California.
 Rono Dutta will return to United's Executive Offices in Chicago as the airline's vice president-Management Information Systems. Formerly responsible for maintenance operations, Dutta now will be responsible for the planning, development and operation of information technology within United.
 Dutta joined United in 1985 and has held a variety of management positions with the airline, including vice president-base operations at the Maintenance Operations Center, vice president-financial planning and analysis, and director-flight crew resources.
 Prior to joining United, Dutta served as the manager of planning for Bell & Howell in Chicago and as a management consultant with Booz, Allen & Hamilton. He holds a master's degree in business administration from the Harvard Business School and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India.
