UNITED AIRLINES LAUNCHES LOS ANGELES-HONG KONG SERVICE

 CHICAGO, April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines will launch exclusive U.S. flag carrier non-stop scheduled service between Los Angeles and Hong Kong beginning Sunday, April 4.
 "Our new flights will make it easier than ever to travel between Los Angeles and Hong Kong on United and underscore United's strong commitment to the Los Angeles market," said Stephen M. Wolf, chairman and chief executive officer. "We will offer 120 daily flights including 14 daily international flights by June at Los Angeles International Airport."
 United's non-stop international service at Los Angeles this summer will include flights to Auckland, Guatemala City, London, Mexico City, Paris, San Salvador, Sao Paulo, Sydney and Tokyo in addition to Hong Kong.
 The Los Angeles-Hong Kong flights will be operated in Boeing 747-400 aircraft seating 36 customers in First Class, 126 in Connoisseur Class and 184 in Economy Class.
 Flight 1 will depart from Los Angeles at 12:55 p.m. and arrive in Hong Kong at 6:25 p.m. (the following day after crossing the international dateline). Flight 2 will depart from Hong Kong at 12:05 p.m. and arrive in Los Angeles at 10:05 a.m.
 Special ribbon-cutting ceremonies at 12 noon on Monday, April 5, at Los Angeles International Airport will draw local attention to the new international route.
 Participants will include John J. Driscoll, executive director of the Los Angeles Department of Airports; Peter Johnson, director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Affairs Office in San Francisco; Betsy Smith, senior policy advisor to California Governor Pete Wilson; and Cyril D. Murphy, vice president-international and governmental affairs for United Airlines.
