 UNITED AIRLINES ISSUES STATEMENT
 ON BRITISH AIRWAYS-USAIR TRANSACTION
CHICAGO, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephen M. Wolf, in response to Gov. Bill Clinton's balanced position on the proposed British Airways-USAir transaction, said: "I applaud Gov. Clinton's position. It is pro-consumer and pro competition. Gov. Clinton would require a level playing field for U.S. air carriers by insisting that the United Kingdom open its aviation markets to all who want to participate -- not just British Airways and USAir."
