 UNITED AIRLINES ANNOUNCES MAJOR EXPANSION AT DENVER;
 CARRIER TO OFFER 245 DAILY FLIGHTS BY MARCH 2
 CHICAGO, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines announced today it plans a major expansion of scheduled service at Denver's Stapleton International Airport this winter with daily flights rising from 215 today to 245 by March 2, 1993.
 "We have been delighted with the customer response to our Denver service since we began adding capacity this past summer," said J.C. Pope, president and chief operating officer. "This service expansion underscores our continued commitment to the City of Denver and its importance to the United route network.
 "Moreover, our new service will have a very positive impact on Denver's economy, creating numerous jobs in various departments in addition to the 6,300 positions we already have in Denver today," Pope said.
 The new schedule will provide Denver customers with the most flights on United Airlines since the carrier began service at Denver in 1937. The previous high was 221 flights in December of 1986 and January of 1987.
 United noted that the carrier's build-up of service will coincide with the peak Colorado ski season, though the new flights are planned to operate year-round.
 United previously announced plans for seasonal service beginning Dec. 17 between Denver and the ski destinations of Gunnison/Crested Butte, Hayden/Steamboat and Vail, Colo. and Jackson Hole, Wyo. and also between Denver and Mexico City.
 United's new service will offer travelers 30 new flights to 25 presently served destinations and two new cities -- Columbus, Ohio and Medford, Ore.
