UNITED AIRLINES AND ALM ANTILLEAN AIRLINES MOVE UP CODE-SHARE STARTING DATE ONE MONTH TO TODAY

CHICAGO, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines and ALM Antillean Airlines announced that they have accelerated the first day for code sharing to today and expanded their upcoming marketing alliance.
The carriers said they have moved up the date of their code-sharing arrangement by one month which will allow the benefits of the unified service to be enjoyed by customers using the two carriers throughout November.
The first ALM flight bearing the United Airlines UA carrier designator code departed from Curacao to Miami this morning. It allowed customers to connect to United flights from Miami to Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, Fla., San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
The two carriers celebrated the inaugural service at Hato Airport in Curacao with a traditional pre-flight ribbon-cutting ceremony headed by Kitland Chong, president of ALM Antillean Airlines, and Mark S. Liberman, vice president-Latin America of United.
As a special incentive to customers flying ALM/United, the two carriers are offering a 5,000-mile enrollment bonus and a 10,000 activation bonus in United's popular Mileage Plus frequent flier program.
A customer must fly roundtrip on scheduled United Airlines-operated flights to receive the activation bonus.
The promotion will be in effect from Nov. 1, 1993 through March 31, 1994.
