UNIT COMPANIES TO OPERATE DISTRIBUTION CENTER FOR SEARS LOGISTICS SERVICES

 JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The Unit Companies, one of the nation's largest providers of third-party logistics, has reached an agreement with Sears Logistics Services (SLS), a subsidiary of Sears, Roebuck and Company (NYSE: S), to operate a distribution center in Columbia, Md. The 945,000 square-foot facility will handle a variety of Sears Brand Central appliances for distribution in the eastern United States. The anticipated start-up for the operation is April, 1993.
 This facility is in addition to two other distribution centers Unit operates for SLS in Jacksonville, Fla., and Memphis, Tenn. The square footage of those operations is 200,000 and 480,000, respectively.

 The Unit Companies, based in Jacksonville, is a subsidiary of GATX Corporation (NYSE: GMT) in Chicago. More than 3,000 employees in over 100 facilities nationwide and in Mexico help hundreds of manufacturers effectively store, process and deliver their products through a wide range of third-party services.
 GATX Corporation is a $3.4 billion service-based asset company which provides capital equipment and related services for use in various domestic and international markets for rail, aircraft, bulk liquid storage terminals and pipelines, logistics support, and Great Lakes shipping.
