UNISYS NAMES MILLAR PRESIDENT OF WORLDWIDE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES GROUP
BLUE BELL, Pa., Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) said today that Victor E. Millar has been elected a senior vice president of Unisys and named president of its worldwide Professional Services Group.
He will report to Unisys president and chief operating officer, Reto Braun.
Unisys chairman and chief executive officer James A. Unruh said, "Victor Millar earned an international reputation in information consulting and the management of professional services firms during his career with Arthur Andersen & Co. where he was the architect of Andersen Consulting. He is the ideal person to lead a significant worldwide expansion of Unisys services business, ranging from consulting, to systems integration, to outsourcing."
Reto Braun said, "A growing, world-class professional services offering, combined with our existing in-depth knowledge of platform technologies, and expertise in selected lines of business, will differentiate Unisys in its chosen markets as it partners with users to create business solutions that provide a bottom-line result. It is no longer sufficient to just supply technology. We must, in partnership with our customers, apply the technology effectively to help our customers better serve their customers."
Unisys information systems services revenue including non-defense revenue from Paramax is expected to exceed $1 billion in 1992.
"The Unisys commitment to significantly expand its information services capability from a solid foundation creates a major competitive advantage opportunity for the company and its customers," said Millar. "The creation, collection, protection, distribution and use of information for competitive advantage will be the focus of our services. And we will move rapidly to expand the scope of services offered to our selected markets."
Millar, 57 years of age, joined Arthur Andersen & Co. in 1958 and was involved in pioneering early computer systems development efforts. His expertise in large scale systems was recognized on a worldwide basis and he became the Director of Information Processing practice in 1968 at age 33. He was named Managing Partner - Consulting, a worldwide position, in 1979 and Managing Partner - Practice in 1984.
In 1986, Britain's Saatchi & Saatchi Company asked Millar to build another world-class consulting firm as chairman and chief executive of Saatchi Consulting Ltd., and a member of the Board of the parent company. He evaluated scores of consulting firms, acquired ten and in two years expanded the consulting group profitably. Through 1988, the company grew to more than $300 million in revenue. In 1989, in a changed economic environment, Saatchi sold the consulting operations to concentrate on advertising.
Since 1990, Millar has been chairman of his own firm, PSF Management International, Inc., based in Washington, D.C. It is a consulting firm with a practice limited to professional services firms and to investors having an interest in evaluating or investing in professional services firms.
