UNION RESPONDS TO ANNOUNCEMENT BY PRESBYTERIAN HOSPITAL

PHILADELPHIA, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- In a quick response to an announcement made today by Presbyterian Hospital that a major share of its work is being subcontracted to ARA Services, Henry Nicholas, president of District 1199C of the National Union of Hospital and Health Care Employees, has informed hospital President Donald Snook by telegram that the union will seek to have the hospital's non-profit status withdrawn.
Alleging the amount of proprietary operations at the institution cancels its tax-exempt status, the union said it is involved in an organizing drive at Presbyterian Hospital and the employees were notified at 7:30 a.m. of this action.
