 UNION CARBIDE SETTLES HEADQUARTERS LAWSUIT
 DANBURY, Conn., June 23 -- Union Carbide Corporation


(NYSE: UK) (UCC) today announced that it had settled a lawsuit filed in a Florida state court by Danbury Buildings, Inc., owner and lessor of the corporation's headquarters. Among other things, the suit sought to enjoin the spin-off of Praxair, Inc., the new name of UCC's industrial gases business.
 The company also added that the settlement will not have a material financial impact on UCC and that the distribution of the stock of Praxair, Inc. will proceed as planned on June 30.
