UNION, KROGER TO RESUME NEGOTIATIONS ON WEDNESDAY; NEWS BLACKOUT IMPOSED
 MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich., June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- UFCW Locals 539 and 876 and the Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) announced today the resumption of negotiations on Wednesday aimed at resolving the strike by 7,500 clerks and meat department employees now in its ninth week.
 The negotiations were arranged by and will be conducted under the auspices of mediators from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service and the Joint Labor-Management Committee of the Retail Food Industry. The location of the negotiations was not disclosed.
 UFCW officials said they and the company agreed to a news blackout for the duration of these talks. Under the agreement to resume negotiations, neither party will make further public comment until either a settlement is reached or the talks break off.
 UFCW President William H. Wynn has assigned the union's chief negotiator, William J. Olwell, the director of collective bargaining and negotiated benefits, to assist the union's joint bargaining committee for the duration of the talks.
