UNILEVER ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT OF JOSEPH F. RONCHETTI
AS PRESIDENT AND CEO OF ELIZABETH ARDEN
NEW YORK, June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Unilever, the worldwide consumer products company, confirmed today that Joseph F. Ronchetti has elected to retire as president and CEO of the Elizabeth Arden Company, effective Aug. 3, 1992, having fulfilled his pre-acquisition contractual obligations to Unilever. Ronchetti has, however, agreed to become a consultant to the company.
Unilever will realign its personal products business in the United States forming a worldwide Prestige Personal Products Group consisting of the Elizabeth Arden Company and the Calvin Klein Cosmetics Company. Both companies, headquartered in New York City, manage their businesses on a worldwide basis. Robert M. Phillips has been named chairman and CEO of the group and will also become president and CEO of the Elizabeth Arden Company. In his consultancy role, Ronchetti will become vice chairman of the Prestige Products Group.
Phillips noted Ronchetti's contribution to Elizabeth Arden during almost 27 years. He said that in his 14 years as president of the company, Ronchetti had achieved great success both personally and for the business. During this time he has guided the business through two acquisitions. Through his unique talents in marketing and sales, he has presided over the dramatic resurgence of Elizabeth Arden in the worldwide prestige market.
Kimberly Delsing, president and CEO of the Calvin Klein Cosmetics Company continues to report directly to Phillips.
Phillips said the new organization will enable Unilever to focus its resources on the significant opportunities in the global prestige personal products market.
