ANNOUNCE FIRST UL LISTINGS OF RESIDENTIAL CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS
 WHAT: A News Conference
 Every year, more than 230 people die from carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning while in the safety of their own homes. Sources of carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless toxic gas, include fuel-burning appliances, automobile exhaust, improperly vented fireplaces, and the use of cooking appliances for heat.
 Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) will announce the first listings of residential carbon monoxide detectors under a newly developed UL Standard.

 NOTE: During the news conference , UL engineers will demonstrate the operation of the carbon monoxide detectors. Jacqueline Jones-Smith and Tom Castino will be available for interviews following the news conference, and UL engineers will be on hand to answer technical questions.

 Directions
 North
 From the North, take I-294-south to the Deerfield Toll Plaza, Immediately after the toll plaza, bear left, heading east on the I-94 Spur (Edens Expressway) to the Waukegan Road exit (Route 43). Travel south to Dundee Road (Route 68), turn right (west), and proceed to Pfingsten Road. Turn right (north) on to Pfingsten Road and travel about 1/2 mile to UL's visitor's entrance. The entrance is on the right (east) side of Pfingsten Road; about 1 block south of Maria Drive. The visitor's parking area is marked.
 South
 Take the Kennedy Expressway (I-90, 94) to the Edens Expressway (I-94). Exit at Dundee Road (Route 68) west and proceed to Pfingsten Road. Turn right (north) on to Pfingsten Road and travel about 1/2 mile to UL's visitor's entrance. The entrance is on the right (east) side of Pfingsten Road; about 1 block south of Maria Drive. The visitor's parking area is marked.
