 UNC INCORPORATED ACQUIRES SOUTHERN AERO CORPORATION;
 EXPANDS AVIATION CONTRACT SERVICES CAPABILITIES
 ANNAPOLIS, Md., June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- UNC Incorporated (NYSE: UNC) announced today that it has acquired the assets of Southern Aero Corporation in Ozark, Ala., near Fort Rucker, the U.S. Army's Aviation Center and School.
 Southern Aero has 18 years of experience in helicopter overhaul, maintenance and sales, specializing in both the military and civilian models of the Bell UH-1 helicopter. As a part of UNC, it has been renamed UNC Helicopter and will be linked to UNC's Aviation Services division.
 UNC Helicopter has been involved in the refurbishment and certification of military helicopters for civilian and commercial use worldwide since 1974. Currently, the division is the prime contractor for the U.S. Army's UH-1 Retirement Program contract, a five-year program to overhaul 250 UH-1H helicopters for delivery into foreign military sales. The division separately also sells refurbished helicopters into the commercial market. The division employs 102 people with first year sales in the $7-8 million range.
 Dan A. Colussy, chairman and chief executive officer of UNC Incorporated, said, "The addition of this helicopter refurbishment operation to the UNC family broadens and strengthens the company's aviation support technology base. We expect this acquisition to improve Aviation Services Division margins and contribute to earnings immediately. This new operation will add to UNC's existing rotary wing capabilities, and strategically positions UNC to take advantage of the growing commercial and military helicopter support market."
 UNC Incorporated, listed on the New York Stock Exchange, is engaged in the manufacturing and remanufacturing of jet engine and aircraft components; the overhaul of aircraft accessories and aircraft engines; and in providing aircraft maintenance and pilot training services.
