ULTRAPHONE BASE IN MEXICO EXPANDS WITH ORDERS EXCEEDING $2 MILLION
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- International Mobile Machines Corporation (AMEX: IMM) today announced the receipt of its first 1992 order from Telefonos de Mexico S.A. de C.V. (Telmex).
This order is in excess of $1.8 million and covers the expansion of two of the 30 Ultraphone systems already installed in Mexico. Routine shipments for spare parts were also shipped to Mexico during the first quarter. These orders reflect the continuation of IMM's program with Telmex under which IMM has received orders totaling more than $22 million.
IMM has made its first shipment to its other customer in Mexico, the Secretary of Communications and Transport (SCT), as part of the SCT's Rural Telephony program which is a complementary program to the Telmex Rural Telephony program.
"The Ultraphone systems installed in Mexico during 1991 are now being expanded from nine channel, 120 subscriber systems to 20 channel, 80 trunk systems with some 200 subscribers per system," said William E. Ronca III, vice president of IMM World Trade Corporation's Latin America Region. "The Ultraphone systems are being expanded because they have more voice and data traffic capability than can be realized by the thin route microwave multiple access radio systems presently on the market," Ronca added.
IMM products are distributed exclusively in Mexico by Rolm Telecomunicaciones S.A. de C.V., a joint venture company owned by IBM Mexico, Bancomer and Mulber Group.
