NEW YORK, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- With New York as its new home base, UltrAir will begin low fare service between New York and Florida on Nov. 11. Offering an introductory $99 fare for every seat, every flight, every day, UltrAir will operate nonstop 727-200 jet service between New York's JFK Airport and Miami, West Palm Beach, and Ft. Lauderdale.
Dubbed the "least annoying airline" because of its lack of restrictions, UltrAir will provide value-oriented service, offering one simple fare to three Florida cities with no advance or roundtrip purchase or Saturday night stay requirements. The airline operates 143-seat 727-200 jet aircraft with 34" pitch, providing more leg room than other airlines.
The initial schedule calls for one daily nonstop flight each to Miami, West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale. On Nov. 18, the schedule will increase to two daily flights to each city. The $99 fare is good for travel through Dec. 15. Fares are refundable with a service charge for changes and refunds.
UltrAir had been serving the Houston business market with scheduled service to Los Angeles and New York. The airline is also known for its successful charter business, serving tour operators, the White House Press Corps, the Houston Rockets and other major sports teams, among others.
Realizing that today everyone is a discretionary traveler, the airline has repositioned itself as a value oriented carrier serving high volume markets appealing to both the business and leisure traveler from JFK Airport. UltrAir believes JFK is underserved and intends to build its operations at the airport's Delta domestic terminal. Future plans include service to such destinations as other Florida cities, Houston, New Orleans, Chicago and Detroit.
Privately held, UltrAir is owned by Texas investor and entrepreneur Gordon A. Cain who is also a director and co-founder of Atlantic Coast Airlines. A specialist in leveraged acquisitions principally in the petrochemical industry, Mr. Cain is a recognized leader in providing profit-sharing programs that enable employees to reap the financial rewards of increased productivity and performance. At UltrAir, an incentives plan will allow every employee to participate in the airline's success.
The airline's move to JFK will initially bring about 200 jobs to the area. The airline's flight crews will relocate to New York, bringing a wealth of experience with them. The captains, all former Pan Am or Eastern Airlines pilots, average in excess of 20 years each of flight experience.
UltrAir is multi-hosted in the SABRE reservations system and is a full participant in ARC and the Airlines Clearing House. It is fully interactive with all of the major airline computerized reservation systems.
Passengers can purchase tickets through travel agents or through the airline's toll free reservations number: 1-800-ULTRAIR (1-800-858-7247).
