 ULTIMAP AND PLANGRAPHICS ANNOUNCE 'QUICKVIEW'
 MULTIMEDIA INFORMATION SERVICES
ST. PAUL, Minn. and FRANKFORT, Ky., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Ultimap Corporation (NASDAQ: UMAPQ) and PlanGraphics, Inc., announced today that they are jointly developing QuickView(TM) -- a new family of multimedia products and services that provide easy PC- or Kiosk-based access to audio, video, photo and other types of information. The announcement follows the successful demonstration of custom design prototypes for two state and local government park systems.
ParkView(TM), the first QuickView application, is now available for use in accessing and managing information about park facilities. In its kiosk format, ParkView is used as a public information booth, complete with intuitive touch screen buttons for exploring the locations, sights, sounds and availability of a park's recreational facilities. Customized for each site, the types of information available via ParkView can include photos and recordings of wildlife in the park, campground availability, maps to scenic areas or attractions, and special video promotions. For park managers, ParkView is a rapid yet versatile means to answer public inquiries, manage reservations, examine park resources and geography, and maintain park facilities.
"This is a new and dynamic area of endeavor for us," said John C. Antenucci, president of PlanGraphics. "It goes far beyond our traditional business of designing and implementing geographic information systems, although it clearly builds on our systems engineering methodologies and our knowledge of computer graphics." PlanGraphics' role in the development of ParkView has been to advise on information requirements and relationships, as well as assisting with software customization for specific clients, Antenucci said.
"We are excited about the many ways that QuickView is able to solve real world information access problems," said Robert Bro, Ultimap's president. "Its immediate applicability to an incredibly diverse range of business and service organizations goes beyond traditional expectations for information systems. Together with PlanGraphics, we offer a combination of the latest in multimedia GIS technology and a deep understanding of user needs."
