ULSTER BRING MURPHY HOME; PRO12 LEAGUE LATEST.

Byline: DARREN FULLERTON

ULSTER rugby chief David Humphreys has backed prop Ruaidhri Murphy to be a "huge success" at Ravenhill next season.

The Irish-born loosehead has agreed a two-year deal and will join the province from top Australian outfit Brumbies in August.

The 26-year-old, a ready-made replacement for the departing Tom Court who leaves for the Aviva Premiership and London Irish in the summer, was born in Dublin and came through the Leinster academy.

He spent two seasons with Exeter Chiefs before joining the Brumbies in 2012 where he has made 20 appearances to date.

"Ruaidhri is a highly talented young Irish prop whose experience of Super Rugby will bring an extra dimension to our front row," said Humphreys (below). "I have no doubt he will be a huge success at Ravenhill in the coming years."

Murphy said he had been impressed by Humphreys' "vision" and was relishing the prospect of joining one of the "leading sides in Europe".

"It came down to joining Ulster or staying with the Brumbies," he said. "The Brumbies are a fantastic franchise and Canberra is a brilliant place to live but I am Irish and have an Irish family.

"Ulster are a quality team and currently one of the leading sides in Europe.

Their fans are also famous around the world. It is an exciting time to be joining the province with the new stadium and training facilities that have been built at Ravenhill."
