UK-BUILT NISSAN MICRA WINS 'CAR OF THE YEAR 1993' AWARD

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, Nov. 24 ~PRNewswire~ -- Nissan is delighted to announce that the new Micra, built at Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK) Limited in Sunderland, England, has been voted "Car of the Year 1993." The award is presented annually to the most outstanding new car of the year, voted by an independent jury of 58 professional motoring journalists drawn from 19 different countries.
The main criteria on which the eligible cars are judged are their general design, comfort, safety, economy, handling and general roadworthiness, performance, functionality, driver satisfaction and price (value for money being a major factor).
This result not only underlines the attractive styling and quality build of the Micra but is also historic in that this is the first Japanese-badged vehicle to be presented with the award in the 30-year history of the Car of the Year competition.
The Micra is not marketed in North America.
