The UK privacy commissioner has said that Canadians need to demand from their political parties how their data is being used.
Elizabeth Denham, current information commissioner for the United Kingdom, said that recent controversies in Canada regarding data privacy makes such moves imperative.
She said that agencies should only be able to collect data in a transparent manner.
Denham was British Columbia's privacy commissioner for six years.
