UK's in the doghouse.

THE tourism industry could be missing out on pounds 2.2billion because foreigners think we don't welcome pets.

The UK has been voted the least dog-friendly nation in Europe in a survey of pet lovers.

Although pet passports mean it is now easy for visitors to bring their furry friends with them, most Germans, French and Italians still give Britain the thumbs-down.

A survey of 2000 European dog-owners by Winalot found they felt facilities for pets in the UK were not up to scratch.

And almost a third of Brits who took part in the survey agreed with the verdict.

The dog food manufacturers are now planning to hand out awards to dog-friendly places
