 UHC SIGNS FOUR NEW CONTRACTS FOR LINKAGE,
 ITS GERIATRIC CARE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
 MINNEAPOLIS, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- United HealthCare Corporation(SM) (NYSE: UNH) today announced four new contracts with hospitals to install LinkAge(SM), its geriatric care management system that reduces costs while delivering specialized care to high-cost frail elderly patients. The new LinkAge clients are:
 -- Immanuel Medical Center, Omaha, Neb. - 372 beds;
 -- Penrose Hospital, Colorado Springs, Colo. - 602 beds, part of Penrose-St. Francis Healthcare Systems;
 -- St. Mary's Hospital, West Palm Beach, Fla. - 430 beds;
 -- Bayshore Medical Center, Pasadena, Tex. - 324 beds, affiliated with HealthTrust Inc. - The Hospital Company.
 LinkAge applies managed care techniques to the care of Medicare patients in a hospital setting. It is designed to promote efficient and effective resource use during hospitalization, reducing length of hospital stay, and aiding in the transition to alternative care settings, thereby improving patient satisfaction.
