UGC CONSULTING AND HUGHES INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
 TO DEVELOP CUSTOMER APPLICATIONS
DENVER, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- UGC Consulting and Hughes Information Technology Co. have signed an agreement to jointly develop and deliver customized applications that will enable UGC Consulting clients to achieve the full value of their investment in AM/FM/GIS technologies.
"It is no secret in the AM/FM/GIS industry that users are frustrated by the inability to fully exploit their system due to a lack of properly developed custom applications," said UGC Consulting President Glenn E. Montgomery. "The UGC Consulting and Hughes team brings together the in-depth AM/FM/GIS industry and applications development expertise to deliver readily usable, cost-effective and timely applications for end users of this technology."
UGC Consulting Principal Larry J. Engelken said the agreement between the firms is an important step forward in the evolution of the AM/FM/GIS industry. "Projects are moving from the feasibility stage, through data conversion and on to end-user utilization. Our clients want applications that are specifically tailored to meet their business needs and we took this initiative in order to better serve our clients," he said.
Bill Herold, Hughes Spatial Data System Division general manager, said Hughes is bringing extensive applications development experience to the AM/FM/GIS industry through its relationship with UGC Consulting.
"Hughes has long been a leader in the area of applied spatial data systems and technology within the aerospace and defense industries. We intend to leverage our software engineering discipline -- which is so critical for large software development efforts -- for the benefit of the AM/FM/GIS marketplace," said Herold.
"We have several dozen highly skilled applications developers in our Denver and Calgary offices who will be fully dedicated to serving the needs of AM/FM/GIS users. We are able to mobilize these developers on short notice to develop, test and deliver the high- quality applications demanded by the industry," Herold said.
Engelken and Herold pointed out that the two firms teamed together in order to meet user expectations for AM/FM/GIS technology. "Certainly, the trend in the industry is that clients have set new expectation levels for these systems, and it is clear that they are demanding sophisticated, cost-effective custom applications," said Engelken.
"But beyond that," pointed out Herold, "they want the applications development cycle to progress with much less uncertainty in terms of delivery dates, risk and functionality than historically have been available."
"Over the past several years, UGC Consulting has taken major steps in its efforts to expand our ability to meet the needs of our clients," said Engelken, pointing out that the firm has initiated technology partnerships with several major firms worldwide to provide solutions to our clients.
"Clearly, service in the AM/FM/GIS industry is being driven by users of the technology who want well-managed, timely, high-quality and cost-effective solutions to their geographic information management needs," continued Engelken.
"We are committed to helping our clients reach their AM/FM/GIS goals," said Engelken.
