UCIG CERTIFIED AS QUALITY SUPPLIER BY TEXAS INSTRUMENTS
DANBURY, Conn., June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Union Carbide Industrial

Gases Inc. (UCIG) today announced it is the first industrial gas company to be certified as a quality supplier of bulk gases by Texas Instruments Inc. (NYSE: TXN) of Dallas.
This certification recognizes UCIG's commitment to quality in its operation of an on-site cryogenic plant that supplies high-purity nitrogen at the Texas Instruments facility in Sherman, Texas. Texas Instruments uses the nitrogen in the production of semiconductor devices.
Known as the "Dock to Stock" Certification Program, Texas Instruments' quality recognition process for suppliers evaluates technical leadership, analytical laboratory capability, cost effectiveness and transportation capability. Other criteria for certification include management integrity and commitment, responsiveness, delivery record, and commitment to an entire quality process with continuous improvement.
According to Marty Clancy, UCIG's director of electronics business, "UCIG's worldwide quality leadership process is dedicated to consistently providing gas customers with the highest quality products, technology and services. Focus on customers, total employee involvement and continuous improvement form the basis of the process."
Union Carbide Industrial Gases Inc. ranks as the largest industrial gas company in North and South America and one of the largest in the world, with 1991 consolidated sales of $2.5 billion.
