Dubai: Shamma Suhail Faris Al Mazroui, Minister of State for Youth, hailed women conscripts for their sacrifices in joining military service, describing them as "the pride of the nation".

The youngest minister in the UAE made these statements during her first field visit to a military school to meet women conscripts, who were undergoing a training programme.

Al Mazroui was welcomed by General Shaikh Ahmad Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, director of the National Service Authority, and senior officers.

During her tour of the camp of Khawla Bint Al Azwar Military School, she praised the women and all the Emirati youth for joining military service and said they had become a symbol of will and determination, ready to make sacrifices to safeguard the nation and its achievements.

"You are the pride of the nation. Those in military service represent the bright image of the Emirati youth who are generous. Joining the military service is an honour to safeguard the nation and its people," she said.

Addressing women conscripts, she said, "Joining military service is not an easy decision for women generally; it requires sacrifice and you proved that are able to efficiently and effectively handle today's challenges."

Al Mazroui stressed that the UAE's leadership, by issuing the national service law, reaffirms its commitment to instil values of loyalty, belonging and sacrifice among the nation's people.

Touring the camp, the minister learnt about the training programme designed for women conscripts such as using arms as well as gaining skills of self-independence, punctuality and others. She also learnt about female conscripts and discussed with them how to engage the youth.

"I can see that you are gaining knowledge and skills in military affairs and others to serve the community and safeguard our beloved nation. Defending our nation can be in our offices, volunteering, military action, which eventually is protecting our nation's achievements," she said.

Al Mazroui added, "I have two brothers who are currently conscripted, they are like those who are doing their national duty. I send you all our appreciation to all who are working on such a leading national project to protect our nation and ensure our security."

Al Mazroui lauded the UAE Armed Forces' role in many fields and the national military service supervised by the National Service Authority. It lays the foundations for the security, stability and prosperity of the nation.
