Abu Dhabi: The UAE's total trade in batteries in 2015 reached $1.42 billion, 68.6 per cent of which was direct trade while the UAE free zone market accounted for 31.4 per cent, according to the Ministry of Economy's report on the country's foreign trade of primary and secondary batteries.
According to the report, the volume of foreign battery trade grew by 12.9 per cent in 2015, with re-exports, exports, and imports increasing by 39.3 per cent, 7.2 per cent, and 2.3 per cent, respectively.
The total import value during the same period amounted to an estimated $838 million, with the free zone market accounting for 35.4 per cent to hit the $297-million mark. The direct import value accounted for 64.6 per cent to reach $541 million.
