UAE's Project to Assist Pakistan completes first model school in Waziristan.
In implementation of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's instructions to support education sector in Pakistan, management of the UAE Project to Assist Pakistan (PAP) has announced the completion of construction in the first-ever model school of Wana in South Waziristan at a total cost of US$500,000.
PAP management said the two-storey 774 square metre school will accommodate 150 students and house lecture hall, five classrooms, a library, computer, IT and science laboratories, offices for administrators and teachers and modern sports facilities to enable students tale their lessons in an ideal learning environment.
According to the PAP management, the south Waziristan was chosen to build this state-of-the-art school for lack of education and other basic infrastructure utilities like roads and transport modes. The President's initiatives in the area also included vital health, education, transport and water projects.
It added establishment of such schools will revive students' hope to get education in modern schools even in remote area, therefore ensuring better future for them and for their families. These institutions will help Pakistan groom a new well-educated and professionally qualified generation who are capable of addressing future challenges.
Guardians praised the role of the UAE, under the leadership of Shaikh Khalifa, for supporting learning process by building modern schools.
They noted that what happened in their region was a significant transformation toward the better that South Waziristan has never witnessed in decades.
They said that distribution of school bags and stationary was a positive step in the best interest of low-income families, poor and orphan students as it will ease their financial burdens.
