 BROOKLYN, N.Y., July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Transportation Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: USTS) announced today that its profits for the first quarter ending March 31, 1993 increased to $7,728, compared to the first quarter of 1992 which reflected a loss of $282,739.
 Revenues for the first quarter ending March 31, 1993 increased to $4,241,761, a 52 percent increase compared to the first quarter of 1992. By operating segment, revenues for the transportation and entertainment operations realized gains of 83 percent and 176 percent respectively.
 "We're extremely pleased by this news, since it is the first profit we have ever shown in the first quarter, which is normally the slowest time of year for our business segments," stated Michael Margolles, CEO of U.S. Transportation. "We look forward to continued growth in the foreseeable future and plan to aggressively pursue the unique opportunities presently available in the transportation industry."
 The increase in transportation revenue is due primarily to the company's acquisition of Sterling Coach Lines, Inc., completed in June 1992, and Transportation Systems Corp., completed in July 1992. The increase in entertainment revenue is due primarily to the company's acquisition of Advance Entertainment of New York in May 1992.
 "These results were due primarily to our strengthened presence in the markets we serve, as well as efficiencies realized through consolidations and elimination of duplicated operations." Mr. Margolles added that, "these results reflect our company's philosophy -- through a centralized management, accounting, maintenance and purchasing strategy, we can bring cost efficiencies and profits to our diversified operations."
