 U.S. NAVY AWARDS GROUNDWATER TECHNOLOGY GOVERNMENT
 SERVICES, INC. $20 MILLION CONTRACT
 NORWOOD, Mass., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Groundwater Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: GWTI) today announced that the U.S. Navy has awarded a $20 million, five-year contract to Groundwater Technology Government Services, Inc. of Chadds Ford, Pa., for remediating Navy and Marine Corps sites contaminated by petroleum, oil and lubricant products.
 In announcing the award, Walter C. Barber, President and Chief Executive Officer of Groundwater Technology, Inc., the parent corporation, said, "This award is in line with our strategic goals and is a direct result of ourextensive, hands-on experience using conventional and innovative technologiesto remediate petroleum contaminated soil and groundwater."
 The sites will consist of those ranked on the Superfund National Priorities List with Records of Decision in place as well as non-Superfund sites. This is the Navy's first major contract award to address remediation at these sites. Over the past decade, their efforts have been focused primarily on Remedial Investigations and Feasibility Studies.
 Groundwater Technology Government Services is the prime contractor. Team members include Fluor Daniel, Inc., Riedel Environmental Services, Inc., and The Environmental Company.
 Groundwater Technology Government Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Groundwater Technology, Inc. was established in 1990 to meet thespecial contractual requirements of state and federal agencies. According to Frank Jasiulewicz, Vice President of Groundwater Technology Government Services, Inc., "During our first year, we built the infrastructure to handle these government contracts and now our focus is on providing ongoing, quality service to our customers."
