 U.S. LAW FIRM APPOINTED TO REPRESENT REPUBLIC OF BELARUS
 DETROIT, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- On Jan. 30, 1992, the Foreign


Economic Relations Committee of the Republic of Belarus appointed the law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone as its attorneys to advise and to conduct negotiations on behalf of the republic.
 Belarus formerly known as Byelorussia, is part of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Minsk, the capital of the new Commonwealth, is located in the Republic of Belarus.
 Eugene W. Pyatenko from the Detroit office of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, who is fluent in Russian, has been working with the Belarus Republic on various trade projects since 1989.
 Charles R. Johnston Jr., of Miller Canfield's Washington, D.C., office, also will be advising the Belarusian Republic concerning economic treaties and foreign relations.
 Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone and "Big Six" accounting firm Deloitte & Touche are co-sponsoring a one-on-one trade conference to Belarus March 6-16. The conference is designed to capitalize on the republic's recently enacted legislation encouraging foreign investment.
 The 260-attorney law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone has offices in Ann Arbor, Bloomfield Hills, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Howell, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Monroe, and Traverse City, Mich.; Boca Raton, Fla.; and Washington, D.C.
