U.S. HEALTHCARE SIGNS ACCORD WITH BRITISH UNITED PROVIDENT ASSOCIATION

 BLUE BELL, Pa., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Healthcare, Inc. (NASDAQ: USHC) and the British United Provident Association (BUPA) have signed an accord describing an intended strategic alliance between the two organizations.
 BUPA is the largest private health insurer in the United Kingdom.
 In the initial phase of the relationship, BUPA and USHC will collaborate in the establishment of a quality assessment program for BUPA and in the coordination of care in the United States for BUPA's insureds. In addition, BUPA and USHC are planning a joint symposium on quality in health care at the Institute of Health at King's College in London.
 The accord also envisions the development of a new jointly owned company which will have as its mission "the introduction, development, operation and ownership of quality-based managed-care systems" in European and other international markets.
 U.S. Healthcare provides comprehensive managed health care services through health maintenance organizations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maryland. The company also provides a variety of managed health care services, including workers' compensation managed care, to self-insured and other employers. In addition, the company offers quality assessment and improvement programs, patient surveys and outcome tracking, and data analysis systems for providers and purchasers of health care.
 BUPA provides health coverage to approximately 3 million people in the United Kingdom. It owns and operates 25 hospitals and maintains an active international division with activities in Spain and Hong Kong.
