U.S. FIRM TAKES HALF OF SNCF TICKET CONTRACT
 SKOKIE, Ill., Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Chicago-based Rand McNally

finalized an agreement yesterday with the SNCF (Societe Nationale des Chemins de Fer), the French national rail corporation, to produce at least 60 million automated ticket and boarding passes (ATBs). The order is worth more than $1 million. The agreement was ratified in a ceremony at the American Embassy in Paris.
"This is an important contract for us," said Tom Breen, president of Rand McNally's DocuSystems Group. "SNCF has the largest ATB system in use in the world. We successfully pre-qualified for the contract, and now we've become the major supplier of SNCF.
"We've been making ATBs longer than any of our competitors anywhere. Our test order proved that we can deliver a high-quality product and still keep our delivery dates," he continued.
"We're excited about the opportunities that the European Community offers. We've greatly expanded our facilities in London. And we've opened international offices in Lyon, France, and Sydney, Australia, in recent years to be closer to our customers," Breen pointed out. Rand McNally began producing magnetic-striped boarding passes for Aeroports de Paris (ADP), which includes Charles de Gaulle Airport, last year.
"We hope to open an office in Moscow in 1992," he added. Rand McNally currently suppl60 Rue Sala, 69002 Lyon, France.
The London office is headed by Andrew Heseltine and is located at Upper Icknield Way, Tring, Hertfordshire, England HP234JX.
Three European suppliers will produce the remaining half of the ticket order for SNCF.
Rand McNally's DocuSystems Group is the oldest division of Rand McNally, tracing its origins back to the company's founding in 1856. It is the world's largest producer of airline and rail tickets and baggage tags.
